Work and Play…

So…as of late I have been inspired by speaker and social change agent Kevin Carroll. I posted a link to his website a few blogs ago…but now I would like to share some thought provoking questions he asks in his book Rules of the Red Rubber Ball.

What would you do for free?
What activities enthrall you?
What in life do you find irresistible, a source of inspiration, a reason to get out of bed?
What dream do you chase?
What topics do you love to discuss and ponder?
What is your primal source of Joy?

and here is a quote that he shares from James Michener. I have this up by my desk at work…

The master in the ART of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion.
He hardly knows which is which.
He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is WORKING or playing.
To him he’s always doing both
Thank you Kevin for encouraging me to pursuit life with passion and keep chasing after my own personal Red Rubber Ball!

Wow… I mean, I’ve always known that – heard it all my life. But I’m not listening. There a ton of things that drive my passion and make me feel alive at my soul’s core. Unfortunately, I’ve not picked any of those things to do in my career.

I’m courageous enough to admit that I’m afraid.
